Sunglasses For Your Windows
I was at an open house at one of our vendor’s last week. As I was parking my car, I saw their van in the parking lot. The tag line on the van said, “Sunglasses For Your Windows.” I thought, what a great way to look at window treatments.
Why are sunglasses like window treatments? I see two great reasons. The first reason is they both control sunlight. The second reason is they both look good.
Sunglasses are used to control sunlight. Sunglasses block light rays to make it easier to see in bright light. Window treatments can also block light rays to make it easier to see in your home. Drapes, shades, blinds, and shutters are available to control the amount of light allowed into your home through your windows. They can filter the light and only allow a fraction of the light in, or they can block all the light and make the room dark. The choice is yours.
When wearing sunglasses, you can see better in bright light. With window treatments, you can see your television easier because the glare from the windows is eliminated. Window treatments can protect your furnishings and floors from harmful sunlight, the same way sunglasses can protect you eyes.
Another reason people wear sunglasses is to look good. Sunglasses can be used to accessorize clothing, complete a look, and to create a mood. Window treatments can be used the same way. Cornices and valances can be used to accessorize a room. Drapery fabric can coordinate with furniture and flooring to complete the look of a room. Soft flowing draperies and curtains can be used to make a bedroom feel more comfortable and romantic. Again the window covering you choose and how you want to use it is entirely up to you.
