Valance or Cornice

Valances and cornices are both window treatments that span across the top of a window. A valance can be made in a variety of styles that add a finishing touch to a window. A valance softens the room because it has fabric that falls off the rod or header in soft folds. A cornice, on the other hand is made with the fabric wrapped and fastened to an upholstered board. There is no draping effect but it still can add color and texture to give a more finished look to any room.

Valances and Cornices Add Style and Elegance

No matter your choice of window treatment, a valance or cornice can be the perfect accent piece to tie it all together. Either one can be used as a stand alone accent for simple windows, or as a layer for a set of curtains, or above shades or blinds. As with all things we do at Beyond Blinds, you can be assured that you have the perfect choice waiting here for you.

Design Considerations

More often than not, the valance or cornice is used in conjunction with drapes, blinds, or curtains to add style. Adding a well placed valance can create an elegant, sophisticated look in a room with a simple touch. The styles of valances are as varied as you can imagine, so picking a complementing style and color can really make the window pop. Of course, choosing the style and color can be almost as difficult as choosing the other types of window treatments! But don’t worry, we will help. Just give us a call at 630-232-9901 and one of our friendly, expert designers will help you determine the valance or cornice that will finish off your room and bring it together just right.
